Capoeira began over 500 years ago when the Africans who were taken to Brazil and enslaved trained to fight while disguising it as a dance. Today, Mestre Jamaika teaches kids through adults of all levels, all aspects of Capoeira: strength, flexibility, movement, endurance, coordination, vocal and instrumental skills, cultural awareness, confidence, teamwork, and community. In this authentic Capoeira class, we seek to improve our physical and mental health as we work together to strengthen our community. Metaphysical Pole Dance Classes
Enjoy the freedom to explore your own capacity and potential in this unique Pole Dance Choreography class that brings in the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. We will start by warming up all the joints, learning 3-5 pole moves that can be combined into a routine, then we'll turn off the lights and dance it out with what we've learned. To wrap up the class, we'll stretch out the body before finishing up with some breathwork. All my classes include a metaphysical twist, so expect some woo woo stuff to help you play with moving and releasing emotional energy trapped within your body! I have spent half my life in the fitness industry coaching clients by way of a holistic approach to fitness. My private and group training method include: teaching clients proper breathing techniques, core strengthening/core awareness and therapeutic exercises so that they can feel stronger, move more freely and manage/heal their injuries and pain. I completed my ELDOA 1 and 2 certification in January of 2020 after using the technique to significantly reduce my own back pain caused by arthritis and disc degeneration. I currently teach ELDOA online and in person and hope to share this amazing technique with others.
Eldoa Method: Decrease Back Pain & Strengthen the Spine
ELDOA is a series of postural exercises that you can do at home with the primary goal being to increase the space within a chosen articulation of joint. As the ELDOAS create more space between the spinal discs, the spine can become more functional and healthier. The postures can increase blood flow, reduce pressure on the discs, allow for spinal rehydration, better muscle tone, and improved posture. As a Personal Trainer, I was inspired to create this workshop after significantly reducing my own back pain using the ELDOA exercises. This workshop will kick off with a brief introduction to ELDOA followed by some breath work to improve the outcome of the postures. Next we will move into learning the main ELDOAS in the workout portion. Participants will leave the workshop with the tools to decrease their back pain. A handout of the exercises will be delivered post workshop. All you’ll need to participate is a mat and pillow/bolster.
